Randolph Round Dining Table (CW)

Item Number: T00-18

Welcome guests to meals served with timeless elegance on the Randolph round dining table. Handcrafted of solid mahogany, the table rests on a distinctive square pedestal base connected by four hand-turned posts. From each corner of the base, four graceful hand-carved legs extend into brass claw feet. The table’s namesake is Peyton Randolph, first President of the Continental Congress.

Pedestal tables became popular in the late 18th and early 19th centuries when families began to dedicate one room to dining. Prior to this, most furniture was designed to be moved frequently within the home, as the need for light, heat or cool air demanded. The advent of the pedestal base marked a change in dining customs, and signaled a decision that the table would stay put in the center of one room to be used specifically for meals.
